Augusta, Mo. is located on the bluffs
above the Missouri River Valley, a scenic 35 mile drive from St.
Louis. Augusta is an unpretentious community where folks still
work and live, where people still hang clothes on lines to dry,
gather at churches for socials, where children still play at the
town square, where fathers meet across the street at the tavern
to play horseshoes, and families come together at the ball diamond
to cheer their team on to glory.
Visitors can enjoy the flavors of the community while strolling
around this quaint village - it's the way the world used to be
and visiting families seem to enjoy it that way. There are many
ways to relax in Augusta. For instance, you may fancy a bicycle
ride on the Katy Trail. The scenic Katy Trail is the longest "National
Rails-to-Trails" project. Some cyclists enjoy leisurely day
trips of the local area while the more adventurous undertake overnight
journeys spanning the entire trail from Clinton to St. Charles,
Mo. Also in the area is the Daniel Boone Home and The Lewis & Clark
Trail giving visitors yet another facet of entertainment to enjoy
their stay.
Augusta is home to several excellent Missouri wineries where visitors
can sip the vintner's special wines and enjoy picnic lunches with
spectacular views of the rolling hillside vineyards. New to the
area is the Augusta Micro Brewery offering a variety of selections
unique to the area. A walk through town will uncover unique specialty
shops, B&Bs, restaurants and bakeries. Special events are hosted
year round by local businesses and towns people. However you choose
to spend your leisure time, you will find a special experience
awaits. |
